Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque joins once again WWF's "EARTH HOUR" initiative.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife, March 2015.- The Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque (, company owned by the Grupo CIO (, will cooperate once again with the initiative “EARTH HOUR” ( led by the environmental NGO WWF on Saturday March 28, 2015.

The Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque will second for another year the “Global Blackout”, starting at 20:30h they will turn off much of its lighting and proceed to light hundreds of candles around the gardens. They will also feature a parade around the pool area carried out by a theatre company and which will include fire juggling, stilt walkers, drummers, etc.

“Earth Hour” is the largest global campaign in the mobilization and fight against climate change. This initiative, which was born in Sydney in 2007, has engaged over 7000 cities and towns in over 160 countries, thousands of companies, schools and organizations who added their voice to show that a future based on clean energy is possible.

According to WWF, “2015 is a crucial year for climate since in December governments from around the world will gather in Paris and must reach an agreement that will help control climate change and avoid ecological, economic and social impacts. Emissions are continuing to grow, and at this rate, we will be headed towards a climate change with catastrophic consequences for all”.
