The restaurant Las Aguas, chosen as "Best Hotel Restaurant of The Canary Islands" during the Mahou Gastronomy Awards.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife, July 2015.- The restaurant Las Aguas of the Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque (www.bahia-duque.com), company owned by Grupo CIO (www.cio-company.com), received last night the “Best Hotel Restaurant” prize, awarded during the celebration of the second edition of the Mahou Awards – La Opinion de Tenerife – La Provincia.
The prize was collected by Braulio Simancas, Chef of the restaurant Las Aguas, accompanied by Michel Burgio, Food & Beverage manager, which was awarded by Paulino Rivero, acting President of the Canary Islands Government, during the gala which took place in the Perez Galdos Theatre in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
These awards, which aim to distinguish the quality of the hospitality industry and restaurants in the Canary Islands, invited around 400 guests who gathered to celebrate the triumph of the most creative and renowned chefs and establishments of the archipelago.
The jury, comprised of journalists and the food critics Laura Docampo and Mario Hernández Bueno, was responsible for appointing the 12 winners from a total of 33 finalists in the categories of best cook, best hotel restaurant, best tapas bar, best creative chef, best restaurant-creative chef, best themed restaurant, honorary historical award, best canarian chef around the world, best beer shooter, best hotel company in CSR and best restaurant according to the readers.
The whole family that forms the Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque and the CIO Group want to thank the jury for recognizing the great work behind a culinary project of these characteristics, where they have tried to publicize the products and elaboration techniques of traditional Canarian cuisine, always using a renovated touch, with the aim of exporting our culinary culture beyond the borders of the archipelago, through visiting tourists to the island.
But we would like to especially congratulate the entire team of the Restaurant Las Aguas, for their commitment and effort towards this culinary project; they are certainly responsible for its success.
In the words of Brauilio Simancas, “This prize is a recognition of our work, but it’s much more than that, because we managed to beat the other two restaurants in this category, a Basque restaurant and a Japanese restaurant, so it is an honour that the Canarian cuisine has been recognized at home”.
