The tennis player Martin Klizan visits the Spa Bahía del Duque to be treated by the physiotherapist Michal Novotny
Santa Cruz de Tenerife, April 2015.- The tennis player Martin Klizan, currently number 24 in the ATP ranking, once again visits Tenerife and the Spa of the Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque (www.bahia-duque.com), company owned by the Grupo CIO (www.cio-company.com), to undergo an intensive treatment plan created by Michal Novotny.
For the third time in the season, the Slovakian player is visiting Michal Novotny to work with the physiotherapist of the Spa Bahía del Duque and get in the best form possible for the next tournaments. Andrea Schmidt, Javier Sayago, Salvador Martín and Michal Novotny himself control all the aspects, which make the stay of the player the most comfortable and productive as possible.
Since his arrival on the island, Klizan has been staying in one of the spectacular Villas of the Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque. The physical rest after the trip is the first step before beginning the treatment plan, the starting point being that the athlete does not have to worry about anything but his physical and mental recovery.
The process begins when an assessment is carried out and a treatment plan is organized controlling his hours of rest, nutrition and physical exercise. Firstly, they perform different tests such as a tensiomyography or a musculoskeletal ultrasound, so that the treatment is as accurate as possible. The work plan is based on several fundamental aspects, mental and physical recovery, the prevention of injuries and the optimization of their physical abilities.
The physiotherapy area of the Michal Novotny clinic offers spectacular facilities within the Spa Bahía del Duque, where they use different physiotherapy techniques based on the experience of treating elite athletes, as well as the use of Medestec technology which together with Biological Cellular Regeneration or the use of HIPOXIA Chamber allows the physiotherapy team to create an advanced, efficient and effective treatment programme aimed at the recovery of the athlete in the shorted time possible.
The player has sessions in the pool, on the beach and in the hypoxic chamber. Each day the treatment ends with a massage session, a thalassotherapy circuit and a stretching routine inside the sauna.
Numerous elite athletes choose to go through their recovery and preparation with Michal Novotny because it offers, in once location, great facilities, together with an integral treatment plan where the objective is the recovery in the shortest time possible.
Also known as an altitude simulation chamber, it is a system that can simulate high altitude conditions by maintaining a low concentration of oxygen in an enclosed space.
The athlete works out in an atmosphere of reduced oxygen (it is possible to get a simulated altitude of up to 6,600m) which allows the body to increase the production of red blood cells, mitochondria and other physiological parameters which delays the Honest of muscular fatigue.
The basic concept of the hypoxia chamber is that living in the altitude causes the body to adapt to low partial pressure of oxygen and produces as a direct consequence greater number of red cells and an increased production of haemoglobin. This improves the performance of the athlete because his body is able to oxygenize the muscles during extreme exercise.
Instead of simulated the altitude by decreasing the pressure of the air, the chamber maintains normal air pressure. The low pressure is replaced by the low concentration of oxygen found in levels of low pressure.
