Santa Cruz de Tenerife, October 2014.- “Radek Stepanek, twice winner of the Davis Cup (titles achieved in 2012 and 2013) and idol in the Czech Republic after winning the decisive points in both finals of the tournament, has decided to initiate a recovery process for a back injury suffered during the semi-final of the Davis Cup against France, in Michal Novotny’s Clinic in the Spa Bahía del Duque” has stated the physiotherapist, a regular at the international tournaments where he treats elite athletes of around the world.
According to Novotny, "the player has developed an intensive and personalized treatment over seven days, during which he has been subjected to daily work sessions scheduled in the mornings and evenings. Each day starts with yoga and meditation, achieving optimal physical and mental state of the player to start the protocols we have designed for every day”.
“Next, sessions of manual therapy were performed as well as Pilate’s exercises, and strengthening of the paraspinal musculature in the saltwater pool of the Spa Bahía del Duque. Stepanek was also including a thalassotherapy circuit combining relaxation with fruit therapy”.
"The afternoon session continued with Global Postural Re-education and preventive physiotherapy. Prevention has been prominent in his readjustment to the court, because his physiotherapists believe that prevention should be the primary goal of any elite athlete. Based on the satisfactory results achieved by the Czech tennis player, he will complete part of his pre-season training in Tenerife, thus benefiting from the professional services offered by Michal Novotny and his team. Also, Stepanek will share workouts with other professional tennis players who also have their pre-season training in this clinic, such as Ernest Gulbis, Dominic Thiem, David Goffin, Martin Klizan or Belinda Bencic, all of them in the Top 50.
